Gigapan:

These is a method which is new and not that well used yet, but it is a process where in which you take a panoramic using a extremely high resolution so that you can zoom in extremely close picking up very high detail on your images throughout. 

 This here is the most famous example of gigapan because it is of the famous first speech of Obama, and you can zoom in so close that you can see the emotion on the faces of the people in the crowd making this method really effective because the person viewing it can really feel a part of the image, also with this you can use it in many incidents so can be helpful across all fields of use. 

This above is the very first gigapan image that was stitched together and the detail in this one is of such a high resolution that you can zoom so far in and capture such high detail of the image.
